I live in Whangarei, North Island of New Zealand. jA small town of 100 beaches!!art of hearthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09400213852778328146noreply@blogger.comBlogger56125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4652519948416336784.post-64359543235604874612017-07-02T14:17:00.000-07:002017-07-02T14:45:00.282-07:00I havn"t updated this blog in such a long time. In fact...I think I even forgot it existed!!!<br />
A year ago I packed away all my scrapbooking things and had only my paints and mixed media for art journaling....now I don't even do that!!! shock horror! me..not doing any of those things!!!!!!<br />
<br />
I was bored with it all!!!<br />
<br />
This time last year we went to Queenstown in the South Island of New Zealand. Such a stunning place...for my 50th.<br />
<br />
In one of those nz wool shops I spied a beautiful blue beanie with white spots...devine!<br />
I also spied a wool flower broach and the price was $50. pppffft..!! I could make that I thought to myself!!!! hahahahahaha!!!<br />
<br />
SSSOOOO.....this is where my journey into wool felting began. July 2016.<br />
<br />
Wool Felting has been a great experience....magically turning fluffy wool into wool fabric..so to speak! I feel like a real creator!. from this to that tadah!!!<br />
<br />
Join me in following my felt creations as I experiment with new item and techniques.art of hearthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09400213852778328146noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4652519948416336784.post-54804198828664869492015-12-31T16:26:00.002-08:002015-12-31T16:26:31.630-08:00journal journey 2016 new zealand<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Right, so the above pic is my album for 2016...its a small one from a class by Limor Webber who gave us these canson jounals ... so I decided to use up the rest of it in the nz journey and have it filled up with others art pieces.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ive covered the brown covers with some gelli prints in my fav colours.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pink page is one ive done as an intro to the journal journey. Again using gelli prints and punched out with a 2inch circle punch. Fun and easy...esp when inspiration is long gone!!!!</div>

when dry applied modelling paste with the harliquen stencil and also the small heart stencil with love postage paste onto the corners.</div>

Painted the chippies white and then embossed with white powder all the pieces. Ive used the large funky trees and large string frame. A small bit of chicken wire and the word "wonderful" from the word pack #9.</div>

Made some rolled dictionary paper flowers and glued them to the larger petals and sprayed with glimmer mist from tattered angels in red and pomegranate.</div>

I outlined the words and coloured in around with black paint. I then drew an outline on another piece of paper of the picture I wanted to use and then free handed with the black paint to outline the pic.</div>

This is the larger shadow box from Dusty Attic covered with dictionary papers sprayed with the blue and lime dylusions sprays . D/A birch trees? mini is gessoed and glued to back of box. Then using crafty secrets fairy stamp set, I stamped onto a piece of acetate that was wider that the recess, so when I put it in I curved it creating a 3d effect. Attached with glue are the lime butterflys for xtra dimension.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
added on the outside are the funky circle flowers from Dusty attic.</div>

before that though I inserted the surround from the window off the layered canvas into the gap and added a bit of corrugated cardboard and quote from dylusions stamp set.</div>

kept it simple to enable the onlooker to see whats inside the window and connect the picture to the words.</div>

chipboards are Dusty Attic except for the keys which are Kaisercraft. lots of sprays and paints and inked edges, texture paste and stencils, mesh tape, sliver plastic frame gesso'd, old light bulb from around the house, large fabric flowers from $2 shop pulled apart and painted up and painted dominos.</div>

I had taken these amazing sunset shots early Feb, and was glad too see similar photos being used on dusty attic for feb, How could I not do a page...and fabulous prize too..$100 to win! yah!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have used dcwv paper, hessian, black cardstock, old book pages and tim holtz wax paper. Dusty chippies and paint dots with end of paint brush....as I layed my layout on the floor and went to get the camera....!!!!!! (paint still wet) I come back to find THE DOG standing on my work eating a bone!!! so hence a few smudges of white paint and lots of dotty spots on the tiles from his feet!!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
AAHHH!!! so love this canvas and have been wanting to do something along these lines for ever!! So after I won the mojo challenge I decided to pick the dress on a hanger idea...totally forgetting my time for this week WAS SO LIMITED! So its all thrown together with no technique and completed in 5 hrs. whew!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Heres what I did:::::</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1.cover a canvas with a prima paper (fairy one)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2.using my south island pine cone branches, gesso'd cone and glued down.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3.OPPS..but first I stuck on the banners and peart string. banners are calico and lace netting.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4.glued on leaves and flowers etc.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5.created the cute as dresses..so much fun. inked using Tim holtz colours.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
6.used stems from paper roses for vines.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
7.inked and gesso'd around the outer edge.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All simple and easy as time was limited to 2 nites really. So no extras..you could go on and on!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
HOPE YOU LIKE IT....I LOVE IT!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
topped with corrugated flower and a few paper flowers and altered key by faith, and a cotton butterfly on corrugated bd on denium. Stamped calico trim and coloured with gelato wash.</div>
